The BIOGREENFOOD project begins, “Application of (bio)technologies for the development of healthy ingredients through sustainable technological processes.”
The BIOGREENFOOD project emerges within the Navarra Agri-Food Cluster (NAGRIFOOD) by applying sustainable technological processes and (bio)technologies for the development of new healthy ingredients with high added value.
The Navarra Agri-Food Cluster (NAGRIFOOD) has organized a launch meeting for the BIOGREENFOOD strategic project at its offices together with all the partners forming the consortium. This project will leverage crops that enable obtaining foods containing proteins with high added value in terms of health, due to their functionality, nutrient bioavailability, and digestibility, such as concentrated, hydrolyzed, and fermented proteins.
In addition to NAGRIFOOD, the project integrates two knowledge centers, the University of Navarra (UNAV) and the Public University of Navarra (UPNA) as research references, together with 5 entities from the agri-food sector covering different links within the value chain. The participating entities are ALIMENTOS SANYGRAN, GRUPO AN, PRODUCTOS TREVIJANO, ALINTER ALIMENTACIÓN, GALAR FOODS, and INGREDALIA, the latter being the project coordinator.
BIOGREENFOOD will be developed over 2 and a half years within the call for Grants to carry out strategic R projects in 2024-2027 and, as such, is being funded by the Government of Navarra. The main objective of the project is to obtain new ingredients and bioactive compounds from legumes and vegetable by-products through the application of (bio)technologies and sustainable processes, with industrial application and/or beneficial health effects that enable the development of new healthy foods with high organoleptic acceptability based on the circular economy.
