The Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), through grants from the NEOTEC Programme, has awarded a €250,000 grant to the innovative technology-based company Ingredalia, with the aim of supporting the creation and consolidation of the company, established in 2017 in Milagro (Navarre) as a result of the collaboration between the technology research and development centre TECNALIA and the Navarrese company Tratamiento Subproductos Agroalimentarios (TRASA), with the support of TECNALIA Ventures, TECNALIA’s deep tech venture builder.

The purpose of CDTI’s NEOTEC programme, a public business entity attached to the Ministry of Science and Innovation, is to support the creation and consolidation of technology-based companies and to promote technology and innovation as competitive factors for their development.

Ingredalia aims to address, from an approach that promotes sustainability and the circular economy, the manufacture, distribution and marketing of natural functional ingredients, extracts, additives and other healthy products, from by-products from the agri-food sector.

At present, the company is focused on the industrialisation and market launch of its first two products, derived from the valorisation of the by-products generated during broccoli processing. Thanks to the technology developed by its R team, Ingredalia has been able to extract the molecule responsible for broccoli’s health benefits (sulforaphane and glucosinolate) and incorporate it into its products: Sulforaphan-Smart is a functional ingredient aimed at strengthening people’s immune system, while Brasphenol is a natural antioxidant that extends the shelf life of foods. These products target very different sectors, such as the food, cosmetics, nutraceutical, parapharmacy, agriculture and livestock industries, among others.

The NEOTEC programme funds new business projects from small innovative companies whose activity focuses on the exploitation of products or services that require the use of technologies or knowledge developed from research activity, and whose business strategy is based on the development of proprietary technology; as is the case with Ingredalia, the proprietary technology it will develop will focus on transformation processes and on the implementation of disruptive production technologies and processes.
